Background
Joan Wray started her private practice counselling the elderly and their families to provide compassionate support. She saw how fear, sadness, guilt and anger paralyzed a family when they were faced with the prospect of having to place a parent into care; the pursuing grief for both the parent and family; and the ongoing transitions that continue to follow.
Joan's foundation in this area resulted from growing up in Aged Care Facilities that her parents owned and operated. As a teenager she worked with Chadstone Community Health Centre as a volunteer, providing many hours of voluntary service to various Aged Care Facilities and local residents in their homes until studying at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. Joan wanted to make a valuable contribution to support those that had been instrumental in shaping her values and ideals.
the 'Rural Primary Health Services Program' and also the 'Aged Care Access Initiative Program', where her services offer counselling to staff, family and residents in Aged Care Facilities in the Eastern Ranges.
